Taxes

I bought a $50 pair of Adidas sneakers for my stepdad 2 weeks ago. He's undergoing chemotherapy so I thought a little present from us can help cheer him up. I sent it to Germany via USPS for $30, and in no time, they received a notice saying the package is ready to be picked up at the German Post office in Fulda.

Mom got ticked when the clerk demanded 15 Euros in duty taxes. Apparently, anything below 45 Euros is tax free so she shouldn't have to pay, but because mom couldn't provide them with a receipt, they "made up" an uber expensive price estimate. Mom argued that it was a gift but they wouldn't listen. They still insisted on seeing the "receipt". Mom asked if it was normal for them to include a receipt when they give gifts. DUH! Still, she had to pay her dues. These peeps just won't listen. Mom's blood pressure went up for sure. I wish she had brought her bpm (blood pressure monitor) with her and measured her bp while arguing with them. That would be funny.

The pair of shoes ended up costing a lot of money but it was worth it. My stepdad loves it and wears it to his treatment sessions. I hope those pair of sneakers bring him home healthy.

lazy day

I'm bored. I've nothing else to do. I worked half-day, I went shopping, I got my hair cut, I watched my favorite teleserye Kim Samsoon, played with the kids a bit. I've surfed the net, looked at homes for sale in the Philippines, read the latest Olympic scoop. I even came across a website that deals with Cat5e Keystone jack. Too bad I can't relate.

I wanted to cook dinner but hubby beat me to it. He's making tonight's dinner. hmmm what else can I do? Maybe I'll take a short nap. gute Idee.

Tag-a-Tag-Tag

I'm not really big on shoes. I don't fancy them. I wear a pair until the time I can no longer wear them, then I move on to the next. So I guess I'm not "normal" hehe.

Anyway, I got this tag from the lovely kapitana. I'm glad she never tires of tagging me....kahit pa sangkatutak ang utang kong tag hehe.

So here goes....
What's your shoe size? Are your feet the same size as your mom's feet? How about your sister's (or your daughter's, in my case) feet? Can you borrow shoes from each other? Post a picture of your latest shoe buy. Tag the number of women of your shoe size, i.e. size 5 = tag 5 friends. Don't forget to drop a line in this blog when you're done. :)

My mom's shoe size: 8

My size: 8

My daughter's shoe size: 8.5 and growing

I'm posting the pair of shoes we recently bought for my daughter. This pair of Nike's is a size 9. Anyway, just like her dad, she loves shoes. And her taste is a little bit expensive for my liking. Why can't she be an el cheapo like me? hayyyyyyy

Summer

Summer is quickly slipping away. The Bahamas trip is nearing, and that shall mark our last "hurrah" for summer. Then comes fall, and soon, we'll all feel like being inside a million refrigerators once again.

In less than a month, Lexi will go back to school. I promised to take her "back to school shopping" but I have yet to fullfil that promise. Little Stevie is going to kindergarten this fall and we're all quite excited about it. He'll be going to New Bedford Academy, a school that requires students to wear uniform. It'll be different than what we're used to, but it's a welcome change.
