Washington DC

So we left early afternoon today after a quick visit to the National Zoological Park. We had a great time during our stay in Washington DC. We went there not having any expectations nor plans. Hubby just programmed the GPS to take us to the Smithsonian museum. We didn't even book a hotel until we get there. I was literally browsing my iPhone for hotel accomodations in the vicinity. They were expensive, but we got lucky. We stayed at the JW Marriott hotel (loved it!!!) on Pennsylvania street, literally a stone's throw away from all the major sights in DC. We were a block away from the Whitehouse. The only downside is everything is also a tad bit more expensive compared to other parts of the city. Dining was also limited to the more upscale restaurant (to my standard anyway). Parking around DC is a bit of a challenge. Good thing the hotel offered vallet parking for $39 a night, so we left the truck in the parking garage and we just walked everywhere. We took the cab too, but that wasn't until the end of the day. We were so tired!!

We saw a lot of Obama cardboard displays and mementos at different gift shops around town. Obama fever is still on. We didn't get really close to the White House because it was cordoned off for some reason. There were Uniformed Secret Service Police everywhere. We got to see the Capitol, Lincoln memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, Washington Monument, and some of the Smithsonian museums. Can't believe how huge the Smithsonian is.

Anyway, it's getting late and we are here in a hotel in Pennsylvania for a pitstop. We are halfway home. Signing off for now. Have a good weekend!!!

yan ang gusto ko sa US...the possibility to drive from one place to another but still in the same country so no prob sa visa or language but still get a different feel in every place.
