Last Christmas, we got Alexis a beginners keyboards. She is a musician at heart and she's been wanting to learn how to play the piano. She plays the guitar and the violin and she wants to expand her music a bit more. It is something my husband and I support. Someday, I hope she can teach her little brother learn the instruments. He is already expressing interest in guitar lessons. I need to talk to his teacher about signing him up for lessons. I wish I knew how to play musical instruments. I wonder if my kids can teach me someday? :)

Great Weekend!

Nothing beats the time spent with good friends!! Had a super-dee-duper weekend with my girlfriends in Toronto. Well worth the trip!!!

Annuity

I work in banking and I see a lot of elderly with fixed income annuities. These are people who had the foresight to save additional money for their retirement. Nowadays, just relying on Social security is no longer enough to sustain a good lifestyle. Some find it surprisingly difficult to have their income reduced drastically. A lot of retirees with fixed income are finding themselves back in the work force for the extra spending money. Nothing wrong with that, I suppose, but I still am for saving more for retirement!

No more Exercise

I'm not sure if it's a good idea but we cancelled our gym membership. It lasted a total of 7 months. Lots of money down the drain. But, it's also been a while since I last went in. After getting sick with bronchitis last April, I've only been in once after that. I guess it's wise to cut our loses early. We found a good way out and we're taking advantage of it.

Music

I came from a family of musicians. Almost everyone in the family knows how to play multiple Musical Instruments. My daughter plays the violin and the guitar. My brother taught himself to play the guitar and the piano. My father was a guitar and violin player. And my grandfather was a composer. So imagine my disappointment because I never learned how to play any instrument to save my life. I like to sing, but I don't think that counts. I wish I had the talent and the skill. Sadly, I have none. :-(

Car trouble

Imagine my stress when my car won't start Friday after work. I was glad a co-worker was in still around so she gave me a ride home. The next morning, I hired a towing company to tow my car to the nearest dealership. Fuel pump was the culprit, I found out. I'm glad I purchased an extended warranty when I bought my car. I pay for nothing other than the $100 deductible. Saved me a lot of headache, I tell you.

Garage Sale

We spent the last few weekends scouring different garage sales in the neighborhood. It's the last hurrah of summer and the weather's been perfect for bargain hunting. I was looking for decorative wire baskets to use in my garden. I have a few ideas of what I can do with them when I find them. But, NO LUCK! Instead, I ended up buying more books for my little one. I just can't pass a good bargain. smh
